I encourage you to be humble…

If you want to be a star, humility will allow you to shine a lot longer than foolish pride.

I love to support other people and help to promote their projects, especially those who are pursuing their passion.  I know how hard it is to have a vision, create a plan and then do the work day in and day out to make that vision a reality – whether you succeed or not.  Other people see the result of your efforts but you know how much work you had to put in to get to where they see you.  Therefore, it can become tempting to get caught up in the hype when people start to congratulate you because you know that you deserve it.

This is the trap.

I encourage you to be humble in your life.

I know some people who think that the world owes them something and that others should be grateful to be around them.  They tweet their opinions day in and day out without engaging in any conversation with others, feeling proud to push their message to the masses.  They have thousands of followers while they only follow a few hundred because they have no time to hear the opinions of others.  They want you to purchase their products and will RT you when you compliment them but rarely support what you are doing.  They create great webinars and teleseminars for a modest fee but leave you hanging with their delivery.  In my opinion, being humble means you are more focused on getting it right through helping and engaging others than having an audience to constantly promote yourself.

One of the key components of a successful business/brand is their service to others.  Take yourself out of the equation and evaluate whether you are really helping others or just promoting yourself.  Regardless of the level of success that you achieve, do not become arrogant or so full of yourself that you forget your focus.  Keep your focus on doing the work and pursuing your passion.
