Presidential Debate Watch Party in Montgomery AL
Montgomery area social media enthusiasts decide to bring their laptops, tablets, and smartphones to Ikonz Bar & Grill to watch the Presidential Debate as they tweet, blog, and stream their support for President Obama and local political candidates
On Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Montgomery area bloggers, writers, social media strategists, and voters will converge at Ikonz Bar & Grill for the Presidential Debate Watch Party to support President Barack Obama (D) as he takes on Mitt Romney (R) in the first Presidential Debate for the upcoming election. The event, which is free to the public, will stream live on Sliced Bread TV, an internet-based show directed by Kalonji Gilchrist. The event hashtag is #AL4Obama2012.
Local Democratic candidates will have will have five minutes each, from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm, to talk to the debate watch attendees. In addition, these candidates will gain the benefit of having their platforms broadcast via local and national social media networks of participating bloggers and writers. At release, the following candidates have been invited to attend:
- Therese Ford (Congressional District 2
- Allen Howell (Montgomery County Commission District 3)
- Steven Reed (Montgomery County Probate Judge)
- Dan Harris (Montgomery County Commission District 1)

The Presidential Debate Watch Party is an event spearheaded by LaKesha Womack and Makasha Dorsey— mothers, writers, and political enthusiasts.
